Draft an Opening Paragraph for Your Research Paper

Pair up with someone and ask each other the following questions about your play.

  1. Motive: Why is this play worth doing today? What has been tried before? What hasn’t been tried that you would like to see done with this play?
  2. Thesis: What theme or production issue would your ideal production of this play highlight? How would you do that?

Using your responses to these questions, draft an opening paragraph for your research paper that establishes a compelling motive for your essay, and makes a clear thesis statement.
