College Writing 1
Peer Interview Film
I. Watch this short clip from [Errol Morris’s The Fog of War]. Viewers do not always hear the questions that the filmmaker-interviewer asks his/her subject, but that does not mean the subjects just spontaneously talk on camera. Imagine 4 possible questions [Morris] asked [Robert McNamara] that might have resulted in the interview statements you just watched.
II. Share your list with the class; how can we write interview questions that are general enough to produce interesting answers, but not so vague that the subject will not know where to begin?
III. Turn your original list into 3 general questions that would be relevant for interviewing a classmate. [7 minutes, then share with class and compile a master list for students to draw from].
